Sometime ago, I was browsing my news feed in FB, this pretty stitch popped and it so mesmerized me that I tried to work it out in crochet, and in Tunisian too, and it worked!
This is experimental though, but the result is stunning. I searched for this kind of stitch, I found one they called crow foot stitch, but it’s so different from what I made, so I called mine fleur de lis.
So my experiment goes like this: Chain any amount in multiple of 5, build 6 rows of SC and apply the stitch.
So, are you ready to do your bag? Let’s rock it!
Materials:Yarn A, B, CH 5.0 mmAbbreviations:PM- Place markerSL St- Slip StitchM- MarkerBase:R1: With Yarn A, (I suggest you use Red Heart super saver for this base only, it has a sturdy effect) CH 30, SC in 2nd CH from hook (PM), SC all the way across, 2 SC on the last stitch. Work the other side with SC all the way across, 2 SC in the last stitch, SL ST at the beginning where the marker is.
R2: CH1 in same place of SL ST, SC and PM , SC in the next 26 stitches, 2 SC on each of the next 2 (at the tip), after 27 SC, 2 SC on each of next 2 stitches, SL ST at the beginning chain.
R3: CH 1 in same place of SL ST, SC and PM, SC in the next 25 stitches, 2SC in each of the next 4 stitches, work the other side with SC in the next 26 stitches, 2 SC in each of the next 4, SL ST.
R4: CH1 in same place of SL ST, SC and PM, SC in the next 27 stitches, **2 SC in each of the next 3, SC in the next, 2 SC in the next 3*. Work the other side with SC in each of next 28 stitches, and repeat ** to* SL ST.
R5: CH1 in same place of SL ST, SC and PM, SC in each of the 28 stitches, **2 SC in next 5, SC in next, 2SC in next 5*. Work the other side with SC in each of the 27 stitches and repeat ** to * SL ST.
R6: CH1,in same place of SL ST, SC and PM, SC in next 14, 2 SC in next and PM, 2 SC after 14 stitches and PM, 2SC in the stitch after 8 SC. Work other side, SC in the next 8, and increase in the next (adjacent to your M) SC in the next 14 stitches and increase in the next (adjacent to another M) SC in the next 12, and increase in the next (adjacent to first M) SC in the next 11, and increase in the next (2x) SL ST at the beginning.
R7: CH1 in same place of SL ST, SC and PM, 2 SC after 14 SC (2x) PM, after 24 SC, increase adjacent to M, keep going with SC and increase only adjacent to M (one in the middle and another at the beginning of this row)
R8: do edging, SC all the way around, and now FO. Congratulations, base done! Total stitches: 115**If you wish to make it longer and bigger, you make several increases more but do them on both sides and end in same spot.
Make the Body:
R1: With yarn B, SL ST, CH1 and SC in same place and PM, (attach yarn B on either left or right side, not at front or back of the base) SC all the way around and SL ST. Do 5 more times to build a height of 6 rows in all, no more counting, just SC all the way around. NOTE: when you SL ST, CH1 and SC in same place, carry out entirely in the body of this bag, the same is true when you change color.
R2: Attach yarn C as you do your last SL ST, CH 1 and SC in same place and PM, **insert your hook 2 stitches downward diagonal to your last SC and pull up a loop, insert your hook a stitch lower and pull up a loop, skip 1 stitch and insert your hook in the next (just on top of previous fleur de lis) and pull up a loop, (this is the longest loop), insert your hook a stitch higher and pull up a loop (parallel to the 2nd loop), insert your hook in the stitch parallel to the first loop and pull up a loop ( you have 6 loops on hook) YO and pull through all loops on hook, and SC to close* ( now, does it look like a fleur de lis?) SC right after the stitch above your last loop, and SC in the next 4 stitches and repeat ** to * SL ST at the beginning. With same color continue with 5 more rows of SC (to have 6 rows of SC)
Alternating your color, repeat Row 2 to achieve your desired height. Attach bag handles of your choice, or crochet your own, look into this tutorial http://www-bebacrochet.blogspot.it/2012/06/tutorial-come-creare-da-se-i-manici-per.html
